Water treatment facility with multiple tanks and filtration units. Vital infrastructure for sustainable water management and distribution

Haldia Water Services Pvt. Ltd.

Haldia Water Services Pvt. Ltd.

Haldia Water Services Pvt. Ltd. is responsible for managing and upgrading water and wastewater infrastructure in the Haldia region, including a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 25 million gallons per day (MGD). The facility plays a critical role in ensuring sustainable water management and environmental compliance for the region.

The existing pumping system, installed in 1984, had become highly inefficient due to aging equipment and outdated technology. The pumps were operating at significantly reduced efficiency levels, resulting in higher energy consumption and inability to meet revised operational demands. Additionally, the plant required an increase in flow capacity to handle growing wastewater volumes.

The client was looking for a solution that could enhance performance while integrating seamlessly with the existing infrastructure, minimizing the need for major modifications. Wilo was selected due to its expertise in retrofit solutions and ability to deliver high-efficiency pumps tailored to specific operational requirements. The objective was to improve system efficiency, increase discharge capacity, and ensure long-term reliability of the wastewater treatment process.

Application & Pumps Used

Application

  • Sewage Treatment Pumping

Pump Solutions Supplied

  • Vertical HSC Pumps

Wilo supplied advanced vertical HSC pumps designed to match the existing system layout while significantly improving hydraulic performance. The pumps were engineered to handle higher flow rates and deliver enhanced efficiency without requiring major structural changes to the plant.

The upgraded system achieved a substantial improvement in efficiency, increasing from 55% to 88%, which resulted in a significant reduction in energy consumption. The pumps also delivered higher discharge capacity, ensuring that the plant could meet increased wastewater treatment demands effectively.

From a technical standpoint, the solution ensured stable and continuous operation under varying load conditions, which is essential for sewage treatment applications. The improved hydraulic design reduced wear and tear, leading to lower maintenance requirements and longer equipment lifespan.

The system delivered energy savings of approximately 47 kW per pump, contributing to reduced operational costs and improved sustainability. Overall, Wilo’s solution enhanced plant performance, ensured reliable wastewater management, and reinforced customer confidence in high-efficiency retrofit solutions.
