HNSS Canal Phase-I Project
HNSS Canal Phase-I Project
The HNSS Canal Phase-I Project is a major irrigation and drinking water initiative undertaken by the Water Resources Department, Andhra Pradesh. The project is designed to supply water from the HNSS Canal to upland regions of Kurnool district, ensuring water availability for 68 minor irrigation tanks across 9 mandals and supporting irrigation for over 10,000 acres.
Wilo was selected to deliver high-capacity pumping solutions for this critical infrastructure project, which required handling medium flow at high head conditions. The project demanded reliable and efficient pump performance to ensure continuous water supply for both irrigation and drinking purposes in challenging terrain conditions.
Wilo’s pumping solution was engineered to lift water efficiently from the HNSS canal to higher elevation areas, ensuring reliable supply to multiple irrigation tanks. The vertical turbine pumps are designed to operate under high head conditions while maintaining stable flow and efficiency.
All three pumps are configured to operate in parallel, ensuring consistent discharge and meeting the required hydraulic parameters. The system design was validated through sump model studies and developed in accordance with HIS standards to ensure optimal performance under site-specific conditions.
The solution ensures uninterrupted operation, enabling continuous water delivery for both irrigation and drinking needs. Since commissioning in 2019, the pumps have been operating reliably, supporting sustainable water management and improving agricultural productivity in the region.
