Is connectivity key for better water and energy management?

Humans are consuming more energy every year and utility companies are scrambling to meet the demand. The International Energy Agency expects global energy demand to increase by 37% by 2040, which would likely put a strain on energy supplies.

Coping with urbanisation and ensuring better water and energy management systems is crucial and the IoT has a role in helping cities become more sustainable.

The future lies with connected products that can help to meet waste reduction, conservation and sustainability goals, as well as ensure better water distribution systems to reduce infrastructure investment and operating costs.

This webinar will look at how water management using the IoT can reduce leaks and ensure vital resources are not wasted.

The expert panel will cover how technology is offering new ways to manage issues linked to reducing emissions, as well as the impact extreme weather is having on infrastructure and how we can ensure we are taking this into account for the future with smart product development.

Panellists: ·

  • Kevin Curran, Professor of Cyber Security, Ulster University
  • Jason Cox, National Business Development Manager for Service, Wilo UK
  • David Williamson, Building Services Director, Wilo UK

Please note: there will be Q&A opportunities for guests and press.

Urbanisation: Why we need to improve efficiency for an ever-changing world

It is projected that the global share of people living in urban areas will increase to 70% in 2050, compared to 56% in 2020.

The United Kingdom is much more urban than the worldwide average, which puts people in closer proximity to jobs, health care, retail, and social opportunities. However, this economic success has led to increased pollution levels and stress on water supplies unable to keep up with increased construction, economic activity and unsuitable water management.

This webinar will not only touch on the social and economic effects of increased urbanisation and climate change but also the pressure this is putting on energy and water demands and how Wilo is responsibly helping by developing high efficiency products.

This unmissable webinar will also explore why urbanisation has been chosen as one of Wilo’s ‘Megatrends’ and how increased development and changing regulations are being taken into account in projects and product development.

Panellists include:

  • Pepe Puchol-Salort, Researcher at the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London
  • Lee Tebbatt, Managing Director, Wilo UK
  • David Williamson, Building Services Director, Wilo UK

Please note: there will be Q&A opportunities for guests and press.
