Wilo East Africa recently hosted a focused technical engagement in Nairobi, bringing together customers and partners for an in-depth exchange on high-flow water systems and applications. The session, anchored by colleagues from Wilo Mather and Platt Pumps Pvt. Ltd., reinforced cross-regional collaboration and the transfer of global engineering expertise into local market contexts.

A key outcome of the session was the strong practitioner feedback (also highlighted in the video). Engineers and utility representatives emphasized the tangible impact of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) in reducing energy consumption and stabilizing water distribution. The discussion also addressed a recurring industry challenge, pump oversizing, which continues to drive higher operating expenditure (OPEX) and system inefficiencies. Across both consulting and utility perspectives, participants underscored that accurate pump selection, correct sizing, and system-level optimization are critical to improving cost efficiency and operational performance in both urban and rural schemes.
