Operating Principle

• Separator filling: Inflow passes through a distribution header into the separation tank; internal flapper plates close to retain solids while clarified water spills into the collection chamber.

• Level monitoring: A hydrostatic sensor converts water height to a 4-20 mA signal for the PLC.

• Staged pumping: When the level reaches the user-set start point, the PLC starts the next pump in the equal-age sequence. Each run cycle pushes clarified water and trapped solids through the discharge line.

• Stop logic: Pumps stop when the level falls to the programmed stop point.

• Duty/stand-by rotation: After each cycle the “oldest” stand-by pump becomes the next duty pump, keeping operating hours within a tight band.

• Fault handling: If a running pump trips, the stand-by unit starts automatically and an alarm is logged and signalled.
