Dortmund. Increased economy in water consumption can greatly increase the requirements placed on pumps – because the higher the solid content in the water, the greater the risk of clogging. And this also increases the risk of a malfunction. With the WILO EMU FA series with SOLID impellers, the Dortmund-based pump manufacturer brings a highly efficient, low-clogging impeller technology to the market, which has been designed specifically for untreated sewage. This effective solution can be completely adapted to individual local requirements.
“Today, people are rightly being much more economical with the valuable resource of water. However, this is leading to an increased proportion of solid materials in sewage,” explains Igor Shashkin, Product Manager at Wilo. “Due to the higher proportion of solids, the transport of water is naturally becoming increasingly more complex. There is also an increase in the risk of clogging – in extreme cases, this can result in higher operating costs for the end-user.” Dortmund-based pump manufacturer Wilo provides a simple but effective solution precisely for this requirement: the Wilo-EMU FA submersible sewage pump series with SOLID impellers. The series’ field of application is not only in wastewater collection and transport for cities and municipalities, but also in drainage and flood control. With their low-clogging technology and high efficiency, the proven SOLID impellers ensure greater operational reliability and keep operating costs low: “Since the risk of clogging caused by solid materials is very low with the series, the maintenance costs are also naturally kept at a low level,” says Shashkin. “We offer customers two different impeller variants. The portfolio has now been supplemented by the half-open SOLID G impellers for DN 80 - 150, which even pump untreated sewage with long-fibre content reliably - and this in partial load operation. The adjustable suction ports, not to mention the strengthened blade edges, ensure sustainable efficiency.”
As a second variant, Wilo offers the closed SOLID T impeller for
DN 150-400. Here, the large passages and a homogeneous flow channel ensure a high degree of operational reliability and efficiency. “In comparison to the existing vortex impellers, the WILO EMU FA with SOLID T impellers is a much more economical solution. If you take the total costs into consideration, you can save up to 36,000 euros within five years here,” the project manager points out.
With its individually configurable technology and a large selection of hydraulics and motorisations, the product can be adapted to the performance of almost any requirement. With regard to the motor, the Wilo-EMU FA can also be adjusted to the exact requirements of the customer: “In order to realise its performance efficiently, IE3 high-efficiency motors can be selected for the submersible sewage pump in addition to our standard motors,” says Igor Shashkin. “Thanks to the higher efficiency, up to five percent of energy costs can be saved each year.” A Ceram coating also offers the best possible protection against aggressive media, which enables it to be used in seawater and brackish water as well as industrial systems without any problems.
In order to get the right impression of the product in advance, Wilo, as a system expert for wastewater treatment technology, is offering its customers support with the design phase and configuration through to the maintenance concepts – i.e. individual, tailor-made solutions across all phases of the project. The unique “Try & Buy” service is also available for the Wilo-EMU FA SOLID series.
It can be tested without any obligation for up to six months before buying. This gives customers an accurate picture of the quality, ease of installation, and efficiency – a decision with any investment risk.
