Pressure-boosting system according to NFS 62 201 and APSAD R5 as a fully automatic double pump compact unit for firefighting consisting of:

Two non-self-priming, vertical, high-pressure multistage centrifugal pump with electric motor. Shaft sealing with standardised mechanical seal. Manifold on the suction and discharge side for each pump: with non-return valve, shut-off valve on the suction and discharge side, pressure transmitter and volume flow switch, and manometer for automatic system control. Equipped as standard with an insulation monitoring device that constantly monitors the insulation of the pump motor against earth.

Switchgear EC-Fire for fire-fighting systems in accordance with NFS 62 201 and APSAD R5.

Redundant switchgear design i.e. one full-load pump and one standby pump with immediate start in case of first pump failure.

Switchgear integrated in a plastic or sheet metal enclosure, painted with RAL 7035.

With integrated motor protection for excess current, short-circuit or earth insulation fault. Push and turn button for settings and parameter visualisation. In the automatic mode, the pump is controlled via pressure transmitter to start and volume flow switch to stop when there is no more water needed.

Dry-running protection relay, e.g. to connect the low water float switch for the water reserve tank or the low-pressure switch of the suction manifold. With signal lamps for pump ON (green), fault (red), and a 2 inches LCD screen for all working parameters as well as potential-free contacts for pump fault (one per pump), dry running protection or earth insulation.

The system is mounted on the base frame. Wires and pipes are ready for connection.

The customer must ensure that maximum required volume flow does not exceed the maximum volume flow for one pump. In such a case, a bigger pump model has to be installed.

Switchgear/control device for firefighting water supply systems

Wilo-Control EC-Fire

Hardware:

Fully electronic central switchgear made of plastic or painted steel case, protection class IP54, control and display devices on the front door.

Features and functions:

The design of the controller depends on the performance of the connected pump (DOL or Star-Delta starting). The device consists of several components:

  • Main switch: Turns the switchgear on/off (unauthorised action in the event of a fire)
  • Display: Display built into the door of the switch cabinet for operation and display purposes. Displays the operating data and the current operating statuses of the pumps and the controller by a combination of symbols, texts and number codes. The menu selection as well as the parameter input are done by the green button.
  • Main printed circuit board: PCB with microcontroller (with EC-Fire programme), power supply unit and I/O terminals
  • Indicators: Two LEDs indicate pump operation and collective fault
  • Green button: Push and turn button to operate the control panel (menus, parameter, etc.)
  • Fuse protection: Protection fuses for the entire switchgear
  • Motor start-up: Direct start contactors until 32A
  • Motor overcurrent protection: Thermal relay per pump
  • Motor insulation monitoring device: with one CPI module per pump (depending on the EC-Fire version)
  • Water supply monitoring: via float switch or pressure switch
  • Performance monitoring: Current of each pump
  • Collective fault signal: All types of error are displayed via a common error indicator (red LED). A relay output is activated correspondingly – choice of logic (rise/fall).
  • Collective run signal: The green LED is activated if a pump is running. A relay output is activated accordingly – choice of logic (system switched on / pump in operation).
  • Individual fault signal: For each pump, a relay output is activated in case of a fault in this pump.
  • Individual run signal: A relay output (per pump) is activated accordingly when this pump is in operation.
  • Fault message and acknowledgement: All error messages are displayed via a LED and are correspondingly indicated on the display as an error code and must be acknowledged.
  • Buzzer: In case of pump operation or collective fault (selectable), an acoustic signal is generated

Software:

  • Factory-programmed for fully automatic operation
  • Current pump information
  • Menu navigation with symbols and text display
  • Pump kick and standby pump (for systems with two or three pumps) ensure pump availability

Conforms to the following standards:

  • Electrical equipment of machines (EN 60204-1)
  • Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies (EN 61439-1 and EN 61439-2)
  • EMC – Interference immunity for industrial environments (EN 61000-6-2)
  • EMC – Interference emission for residential, commercial and light-industrial environments (EN 61000-6-3)

Function description:

The EC-Fire controls up to 3 fixed-speed pumps. The pumps start based on the system pressure and stop based on the system pressure or volume flow. The following sensor combinations are possible:

  • Pressure switch and volume flow switch
  • Pressure sensor and optional volume flow switch
  • Pressure switch and a volume flow sensor
  • Pressure sensor and optional volume flow sensor

A significant advantage of the Easy Controller EC-Fire is the easy operability using the familiar Wilo Green Button Technology.

The core of the EC is the microcontroller. Its software is based exclusively on Wilo expertise. All programming is performed internally.

This allows the new generation of switchgear to be used in a flexible manner and meet customer-specific requirements in all applications.

Commissioning FFS (Double pump)
    

For perfect functioning of the pump(s) / system(s), it is recommended to have the commissioning carried out by the works' own WILO SE Customer Service Department. Optimum setting and efficient operation of the system are ensured as a result. Commissioning is comprised of the following points:

  • Commissioning of system(s) according to checklist
  • Parameterisation and setting of switchgear
  • Testing and adaptation of initial compressing of pressure tanks (filling up to 80 litres incl.)
  • Functional check of fitted system(s)
  • Practice-oriented operation instruction
  • Wilo commissioning protocol

The price for commissioning only applies to system(s) which have been installed in accordance with the installation and operating instructions and state-of-the-art technology. No costs for any materials which may be required are included.
