We are pleased to announce that the HIP UK Heating Apprentice of the Year Competition is back for 2019 and Wilo are proud to support the event and the industry’s future generation of plumbing and heating installers!
The competition is celebrating its 11th year, bringing together students and industry experts alike, spanning across 7 UK regions with entrants from over 80 colleges and campuses. The heats will take place throughout January and February, with the winner and highest scoring runner up from each regional heat going through to the grand final in March, which takes place at the ADEY head office in Cheltenham.
The competition will see level 2 and 3 students compete in practical tasks that are judged by 5 industry experts. Last year’s finalists completed the most comprehensive test to date, and this year’s competition is set to be even more exciting! We here at Wilo look forward to meeting the rising stars taking part showcasing their skills.
The winning student will receive an incredible list of prizes worth up to £10,000 along with the prestige of being the winning student for themselves and their supporting college. The prizes have been donated by many well-known industry names including Wilo, ADEY, Stanley, Vaillant, WAGO, Graham The Plumbers’ Merchant, Pegler Yorkshire, Mira Showers, Corgi & WaterSafe.
Running alongside the competition is the meet the Lecturer/Manufacturer series, a chance for the industry’s most prominent manufacturers to showcase their products and opportunities. This also gives lecturers a direct insight to the ever-changing market landscape, enabling this information to be passed directly onto the next generation of plumbers and heating installers.
