A Step Towards Sustainable Solutions for Vulnerable Communities
Santiago de Chile, Chile. Wilo, a global manufacturer of pumps and pump systems, in partnership with the organisation Agua Segura, has donated and installed a Wilo-Xiro SPI pump in the community of Santa Filomena, Colina, benefiting more than 4,200 people with access to safe water. Santa Filomena faces infrastructure challenges and limited resources. This initiative represents a significant contribution to meeting the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 6, which seeks to ensure the availability of clean water and sanitation for all.
Technology Serving the Community
The Wilo-Xiro SPI pump installed in Santa Filomena is a high-efficiency submersible pumping system designed to extract water from underground sources such as deep wells. Its advanced technology ensures a steady and reliable flow of potable water, optimizing energy consumption and guaranteeing an equitable distribution of resources.
This pump draws groundwater and pushes it into the community’s distribution network, ensuring that households and supply points have a safe and continuous water supply. Its durable and efficient design allows it to operate in challenging conditions, providing a robust and sustainable solution for communities with infrastructure limitations.
This partnership underscores the significance of collaboration in developing concrete solutions to address the challenges of access to water in communities that require it most. "Access to water is a fundamental right," said Gustavo Ramos, Managing Director of Wilo Chile SpA. “we are proud to contribute with sustainable solutions that generate a positive impact in communities with urgent needs”.
Agua Segura, an organisation dedicated to enhancing access to safe drinking water in vulnerable communities, has successfully implemented several projects in Latin America over the years. These projects encompass infrastructure development, educational initiatives and the promotion of effective sanitation practices. “This project in Santa Filomena exemplifies the transformative power of collaboration,” said Catalina Deluchi, a representative of the association.
