Saukville, WI – Wilo USA, a subsidiary of The Wilo Group, is proud to support the major expansion of Riveredge Nature Center through the Wilo-Foundation. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 14, to begin a multi-million-dollar expansion of the visitor center at Riveredge Nature Center in the Town of Saukville. This exciting new development is part of the center’s ongoing “Growing Legacy” project, marking a significant step forward in creating an inclusive, accessible, and environmentally focused space for visitors.
The expansion will involve redesigning the visitor center to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ensuring Riveredge remains accessible to all. As part of the renovations, a half-mile trail loop will be created, enabling visitors with mobility challenges to explore the nature center’s grounds and enjoy its natural beauty.
The Wilo-Foundation is proud to contribute $150,000 to support the creation of the Wet Lab classroom spaces with improved accessibility. These upgraded spaces will enhance the quality of educational programs focused on the importance of water quality at Riveredge, benefiting individuals of all ages, regardless of weather conditions. The redesigned Wet Lab will further Riveredge's mission to provide a positive, engaging environment for learning, exploration, and environmental education.
"Wilo-Foundation is thrilled to partner with Riveredge Nature Center on this transformative project," said Evi Hoch, Executive Board Member of The Wilo-Foundation. "Our donation will not only improve accessibility to the Wet Lab classroom but will also play a key role in enhancing environmental education for future generations. We believe in fostering sustainability, education, and community, and this initiative aligns perfectly with those values."
The “Growing Legacy” project at Riveredge Nature Center represents a significant step toward creating a more inclusive, accessible, and sustainable environment. Riveredge Nature Center continues to lead the way in environmental education, and with the support of community partners like Wilo, its mission to inspire environmental stewardship and create a greener future for all will continue to grow.
