Championship Road Cycling is Only Part of the Fun at the Inaugural Wilo Cedar Creek Classic

Wilo USA and Mel’s Charities bring the Tour of America’s Dairyland to Cedarburg, June 18, with bike races for all ages and abilities, and fun activities for participants and spectators.

Cedarburg, WI—On June 18, 2024, Cedarburg will be part of the 11-day Tour of America’s Dairyland (ToAD) criteria race series, the longest and largest competitive road cycling series in the nation. Wilo USA, in partnership with Mel’s Charities, is the lead sponsor for this prestigious cycling event, bringing in racers, spectators, and tourists from 15 countries and 40 states. Recently ToAD was nominated as one of the best road cycling events in the country in USA TODAY’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

Race organizer Todd Bugnacki explained, “ToAD has become one of the most popular race series internationally, earning an outstanding reputation for participant, fan, and sponsor experiences. Hosting a premiere race like this demonstrates our support for healthy lifestyles and diversity in our community. On an individual level, it celebrates role models, goal setting, grit, determination, and acceptance of individuals with diverse backgrounds from around the world.”

Maggie Dobson, Executive Director of Cedarburg Chamber of Commerce added, “Cedarburg is known for fun, unique events for the whole family and the Cedar Creek Classic adds to the list of ways to enjoy our amazing community."

Eight-to-10 races will be held from late morning until dusk, offering opportunities for juniors as young as nine years old, novices, seasoned master racers, and male and female pros. One of the day's highlights will be the Piglet Pedal kids race. Children from 4-12 years old will have the opportunity to ride the course in a high-energy activity. Participants will be treated to a T-shirt, pig nose, backpack, and ice cream.

This year ToAD will host a race within a race. Juniors, 15-18 years old, from around the country will race in five ToAD races, starting with the Wilo Cedar Creek Classic, earning points to win the Overall General Classification. Junior race winners will earn an automatic nomination for a 2024 National Team trip. Simultaneously, the best-placed 15-16 male and female of each national selection race will be invited to attend a USA Cycling European Race Camp.
