The German African Business Summit Delegates find out how Wilo operates in South Africa
GABS visits Wilo Pumps SA
The German African Business Summit is Germany’s signature business event in Africa where top business and government leaders from Germany and Sub-Saharan Africa meet every two years to discuss and promote economic relations between Europe’s largest economy and the fastest-growing region in the world. At GABS, German and African business interests meet, economic partnerships between Germany and Sub-Saharan Africa strengthen, and business trends and market opportunities are being explored. This year’s GABS 2022 topics covered African German Energy Cooperation, Modernization of Agriculture, Africa’s Raw Materials and the Automotive Energy Transformation, Health Innovation in Africa, Global Supply Chains, African Continental Free Trade Area and Innovation and New Technologies.
This year the GABS was held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa from Tuesday, 6 December to Thursday, 8 December 2022 and as part of the event program, the delegates visited a German owned company, based in South Africa. We were given the opportunity to introduce the delegates to Wilo Pumps SA.
Mr. Gero Boehmer, who is the Group Director in Government and Public Affairs at Wilo, and who was part of the Delegation, discussed the Wilo Group as a whole, what we do, what we stand for, some of our outstanding products and system solutions and our international locations, while the Managing Director of Wilo Pumps SA, Mr. Gavin Bruggen, discussed local challenges and opportunities we face in South Africa, the Wilo presence in Africa, our company and an insight into our local operations.
The introduction to Wilo Pumps SA was incredibly successful, and the response was motivating and overwhelming. We hope to be a part of the next German African Business Summit in 2024!
