Innovation, Record-Breaking Moments, and Conversations That Matter
Innovation, Record-Breaking Moments, and Conversations That Matter
This year at NAMPO in Bothaville, we at Wilo had the privilege of standing shoulder to shoulder with the people who keep South Africa’s agricultural heart beating. For us, it wasn’t just about exhibiting our pumps and water management systems — it was about being part of an event that celebrated innovation, community, and even made history.
Day two of NAMPO 2026 was one for the record books — literally. We witnessed a Guinness World Record being broken as over 1 500 Toyota Hilux bakkies gathered in one place, a sight that perfectly captured the spirit and scale of the event. The atmosphere was electric, with an estimated 24 500 attendees filling the grounds that day alone.
Our stand became a hub for meaningful conversations. We spoke with farmers about how our energy-efficient pumps can cut operational costs, how smart water management can improve yields, and how renewable energy integration can future-proof their operations. Every discussion reminded us why we do what we do: to support the people who feed the nation.
Adding to the excitement, the event drew some of South Africa’s most recognisable sports heroes - Eben Etzebeth, Vincent Koch, and Pieter-Steph du Toit — whose presence brought smiles, selfies, and a sense of pride to the crowd. It was a reminder that agriculture connects us all, from the rugby field to the farm field.
But NAMPO was not only about showcasing technology and celebrating milestones — it was also a platform for urgent conversations about the future of farming. The organisers, Grain SA, used the opportunity to have high-level breakfast discussions with the African Farmers Association, major agricultural financiers, and John Steenhuisen, Minister of Agriculture. These talks focused on the growing gap between production costs and profitability for grain producers — a challenge that threatens the sustainability of South Africa’s food supply. As Wilo, we understand that technology alone cannot solve these issues; it must be paired with supportive policies, financial solutions, and industry collaboration.
Leaving Bothaville, we felt inspired and energised. We are more committed than ever to walking alongside South Africa’s farmers, offering solutions that are not only efficient but sustainable. At Wilo, we believe that when innovation meets agriculture — and when industry, government, and farmers work together — the results can transform communities. NAMPO 2026 proved that we’re on the right path, and we’re proud to be part of that journey.
