Meeting with the Minister of Water Resources in Iraq

In an initiative led by His Excellency Mr. Ali Adeeb Al-Habab, Lebanese Ambassador to Iraq, a meeting with Eng. Aoun Diab Abdallah, Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, was organized in Baghdad on Monday, June 13, 2023, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the water resources sector between the two countries.

The meeting hosted a group of Lebanese businessmen specializing in water management and irrigation from companies such as AlBonyan for Engineering and Contracting, and Upstream Water Technologies.

Playing an important role in Lebanon and Iraq in the water management field, Ayman Nassar, Managing Director of Wilo Levant Platform, and Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, Country Manager of Wilo in Iraq, showcased Wilo’s innovative solutions and technologies, which can contribute to the development of Iraq's water management infrastructure.

Eng. Aoun Diab Abdallah, Minister of Water Resources in Iraq said that the government program of the Iraqi state at the current stage is to shift from traditional irrigation to closed irrigation systems to reduce water losses and rationalize consumption, calling on Lebanese organizations to continue with the development of projects that serve the two countries.

On the other hand, the Lebanese Ambassador to Iraq, H/E Mr. Ali Adeeb Al-Habab expressed Lebanon’s full readiness to cooperate with the ministry and implement irrigation projects that contribute to reducing the effects of water scarcity.
