Smart and energy-efficient sewage transport in Pforzheim

The operating costs for pumping untreated sewage have been constantly on the rise over the past years and decades. The causes are improper waste disposal and increased solid and fibrous matter in untreated sewage.

For this reason, the German sewage company Eigenbetrieb Stadtentwässerung Pforzheim decided to replace the already efficient but vulnerable single-channel hydraulic systems in its Buchbusch pumping station with two smart Wilo-Rexa SOLID-Q sewage pump systems with Nexos Intelligence. Thanks to the latest motor and hydraulic technology in connection with integrated control intelligence, both systems have managed to achieve a far-reaching reduction of clogging problems and, in this way, have also reduced energy consumption.

Since switching to the Wilo-Rexa SOLID-Q, the system operator has been pleased with smooth pumping cycles, less service work and annual electricity cost savings of more than 1,275 £ per pump, simply due to the higher efficiency of the new machines! “Additional energy savings are achieved thanks to the self-cleaning hydraulics and the Anti-Clogging function. This allows the pump to work much more efficiently without disturbing deposits.”
