Wilo in the USA - a success story

Starting today, Wilo TV offers exciting insights into the successful M&A activities in North America. Currently, WILO USA is one of the most profitable companies in the Wilo Group.

"We have been practicsng a "region-by-region" approach for years. This means that we consistently pursue the goal of serving regional or local customer needs with regionally or locally manufactured products. We will further intensify this approach in the coming years. We have therefore invested heavily in the USA, a very important market for us," explains Oliver Hermes, President and CEO of the Wilo Group.

Mathias Weyers, member of the Executive Board and CFO of WILO SE, is also extremely satisfied with the successful company acquisitions: "With the purchase of Weil & Scot and the acquisition of American-Marsh Pumps, the Wilo Group has further expanded its application competence. This has strengthened our US activities in the market segments Building Services Commercial, Industry and OEM. The additional production capacities enable us to meet customer needs in the US market promptly and in line with demand. It also enables us to offer a broader range of high-quality products "Made in the USA".

Insights onsite are presented by Jeff Plaster, VP North America & Managing Director/CEO Wilo USA LLC, also by Troy Firstenberger, National Sales manager American Marsh Pumps as well as by Daniel Podogorny, CFO Wilo USA LLC & VP Group Finance WILO SE. They all experienced and accompanied the company acquisitions.

We look back on an eventful year, and not only for Wilo: For twelve months our President and CEO of the Wilo Group, Oliver Hermes, has now also been President of the German Eastern Business Association. The latest episode of Wilo TV offers exciting insights into his voluntary work for one of the largest regional initiatives of the German economy. Around 350 member companies receive support in 29 partner countries in Central Europe, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia in a wide variety of projects.

“The Wilo Group has been selected this year to participate together with 49 other worldwide operating companies in the global sustainability and climate protection initiative called "50 Sustainability & Climate Leaders" of the United Nations and Bloomberg. The participating companies act on the basis of the 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations. “We are proud and happy to be part of this initiative. The Wilo Group, as leading technology company in the pump industry, is committed to achieving better living standards worldwide and improving the efficiency of water management systems in the face of climate change,” explains Oliver Hermes, President & CEO of the Wilo Group. “I am confident that together we can slow down climate change and achieve the global climate protection goals. With this documentary film, we hope to encourage others to promote the topic of sustainability and climate protection beyond company and national boundaries,” emphasises the Wilo boss.

With this new episode of Wilo TV we celebrate the achievement of an important milestone in Wilo history: the relocation to the Wilopark!

"In the past decade, a large part of our worldwide investments has flowed into the emerging markets and into the USA. Now it was time to strengthen the mature markets of Europe", introduces Oliver Hermes, President and CEO of the Wilo Group.

The Wilopark is now making a crucial contribution to this project: With an investment volume of around 300 million euros, the redesign of the Wilo headquarters is the largest project in Wilo's corporate history. It is not only the largest industrial construction project in North Rhine-Westphalia, but also one of the most important industrial investments in Germany and Europe.

The ultra-modern and digital Smart Factory, the "Pioneer Cube" office building, a customer service centre and the product development department cover an area of almost 200,000 m². There is also a milestone exhibition of the innovations in the company's history, which visualises the pioneering spirit that Wilo, as a family business, has always carried within itself since 1872.

This milestone was originally planned to be celebrated in September 2020 at the latest. Due to the Corona pandemic, the opening ceremonies have now been rescheduled to 04 February 2021.

"All in all, the Wilo Group has invested around one billion euros worldwide in the last decade and created a modern, future-oriented, efficient and growth-promoting corporate infrastructure. We would not have succeeded in this without our employees! This is why we have invested in this strategic project not only in our site, but especially in our Wilo employees. We are pleased that a large part of our Dortmund Wilo family is reunited at the Wilopark", emphasises Oliver Hermes.

Today’s world is a connected world: faster, more dynamic and more efficient than ever before. That’s why it’s particularly important to continue forging ahead with the Wilo Group’s digital transformation. In the new Wilo TV broadcast, President & CEO of the Wilo Group Oliver Hermes explains why Wilo is already the digital pioneer of the pumps industry.

Particularly now, with the coronavirus pandemic still ongoing, the digital transformation offers significant opportunities for many companies. “Many are only now discovering and making use of digital possibilities, and are increasingly offering digital products, solutions, and services. Long before the coronavirus crisis hit, the Wilo Group recognised both the need for digital transformation and the great added value it offers to our customers,” says Oliver Hermes.

For many years now, Wilo has been driving its digital transformation in four dimensions: Products & Solutions, Processes, Business Models, and Human Resources. Using specific examples, today’s broadcast demonstrates why Wilo is the digital pioneer of the branch. With the Wilo-Live Assistant and the Wilo-Stratos MAXO, Wilo offers not only digital services but also digital and smart products.

“In the new episode of Wilo TV, the President and CEO of the Wilo Group, Oliver Hermes, speaks in the CEO Talk with his four guests from the areas of sales, purchasing & supply chain management and production about the "ramp-up" at Wilo.

The corona pandemic represents a huge challenge for everyone worldwide. Nevertheless, Oliver Hermes is certain: "Now is the time to focus on a step-by-step “ramp-up” without neglecting health aspects, not violating the duty of care towards our employees under labour law and not ignoring the legal requirements and restrictive measures of the individual countries.”

Why now is the right time for this from Wilo's point of view and what the "ramp-up" at Wilo looks like, he discusses with Stefanie Hirschmann, Senior Vice President Group Procurement & Supply Chain Management and Head of Wilo Go-Ahead Task Force, Tobias Bähr, Head of Production Final Assembly DR/Top, Peter Glauner, Senior Vice President Group Service and Head of Wilo Go-Ahead Task Force and Arnulf Gödde, District Manager Sales Region Germany West.”

Topic: WILO-CEO letter on the coronavirus crisis: moving forward together safely

With his third CEO Letter on the subject of the Corona crisis, Oliver Hermes, President and CEO of the Wilo Group, addresses the Wilo stakeholders personally via this new Wilo TV episode, but especially the entire Wilo workforce worldwide.

"In the coronavirus crisis, the world is facing a historic test. As much as isolation in private life and social distancing currently characterise the social environment, the opposite is true at the political level. It is now an essential matter of cooperation and coordination in the individual regions of the world. In parallel to mastering the health crisis, it is therefore extremely important to minimise the economic damage caused worldwide, to preserve financial stability and to prepare for a subsequent economic recovery phase", emphasizes Oliver Hermes.

The central message of the CEO Letter is: "Now is the time to focus the task force on a step-by-step “ramp-up” without neglecting health aspects, not violating the duty of care towards our employees under labour law and not ignoring the legal requirements and restrictive measures of the individual countries”, says Oliver Hermes. Therefore, the Wilo Coronavirus Task Force becomes the Wilo Go-Ahead Task Force.

In addition, the Wilo boss also comments on the currently controversial topics "The decline of industrial enterprises" and the "Issue of Eurobonds".
