The German Sustainability Award Foundation and the Wilo Group award International German Sustainability Award

Düsseldorf/Dortmund. The German Sustainability Award Foundation is awarding the International German Sustainability Award in cooperation with the Wilo Group for the first time. The award recognises particularly exemplary partnerships between German companies and those based in the Global South. The deadline for applications is 30 June. The winners will be awarded the prize on 24 November 2023 in Düsseldorf as part of the 16th German Sustainability Day.

This year, the Special Award for Global Corporate Partnerships, launched in 2018 together with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, becomes the International German Sustainability Award. The award is intended to further strengthen the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. The co-initiator, WILO SE, won the National German Sustainability Award in 2021. The multinational technology group with its headquarters in Dortmund is a premium supplier of pumps and pump systems with a product portfolio completely designed for transformation and with a strong social profile.

Representatives from the Wilo Group and the German Sustainability Award Foundation signed a corresponding partner agreement at the Wilo Business Conference “Building Bridges – Africa” on 16 May. “Together, we’re honouring companies committed to sustainable development and global climate action, thus actively accelerating the transition to a green economy,” explains Georg Weber, member of the Executive Board and CTO of the Wilo Group, as the agreement is signed.

The International German Sustainability Award recognises particularly successful examples of corporate partnerships contributing to the 2030 Agenda through environmental and efficiency technologies. All companies based in Germany that have partnerships with other companies in the Global South, are committed to implementing the 2030 Agenda and have already successfully completed projects are eligible for entry. Countries are considered developing or emerging countries according to the DAC country list.

The application stage runs until 30 June 2023. All submissions are assessed by teams of experts from management consultancies and international economic research; the International German Sustainability Award judging panel shall decide on the best. The award ceremony will take place in Düsseldorf on 24 November 2023. The winning companies of the competition will be stage guests at the award ceremony, where the new German Sustainability Award for Sport will also celebrate its debut.
