Sport with global appeal: Wilo to partner the German Hockey Association
Cooperation agreement for sustainable development on and off the field
Mönchengladbach. Wilo is the new global sustainability partner of the German Hockey Association DHB. As part of the ground-breaking ceremony for the National Hockey Training Centre in Mönchengladbach, the water technology group and the sports association signed a multi-year cooperation agreement. Wilo will therefore support the DHB in implementing global sustainability projects in future. The Wilo logo will also now be visible at national hockey team matches, including on the kit for the men’s and women’s A squads and the inclusion team, the Special Hockey Team.
“This collaboration is a clear expression of our strategic alignment with strong global partnerships and specifically takes into account our global set-up,” explains Oliver Hermes, President & Global CEO of the Wilo Group. Hockey is growing in popularity around the world, especially in countries such as India, Pakistan, China and many regions of South Asia. The Wilo Group has seen rising demand in India over a number of years and has three main production sites in the country, known as Green Fabs.
“The start of the cooperation therefore fits in with our growth ambitions in the Global South and especially in India, where hockey is a national sport,” Hermes continues. Lars Roßner, Chair of the Supervisory Board of WILO SE, adds: “I am convinced that this partnership will be successful in the long term, in Germany, India and the rest of the world. Both partners share the same ambition: sustainable success, on a global scale.”
“We are delighted to have Wilo on board as a partner for the sustainable development of hockey as a sport. Together, we will achieve great things, on and off the field,” says Magnus Weiand, Chief Marketing Officer of the German Hockey Association. “Wilo’s global alignment makes them the ideal partner for the DHB. Of course, our goal is to make German hockey successful and visible worldwide, networking on an even greater international scale, including in India.”
The cooperation therefore also includes an initiative to promote and further develop youth hockey in India over the long term through professional exchanges, collaborative training and joint junior programmes, which Wilo will actively support as a sustainability partner. “Hockey is a sport that brings people together and connects them across borders. This momentum of fostering connections is completely in line with Wilo’s strong corporate values,” explains Oliver Hermes.
