A cause for celebration

Wilo congratulates the German Men’s Eight rowing team on the silver medal

Dortmund. Thousands of training kilometres, weeks of training camps, emotional competitions – all this has now paid off. In a gripping final, the German Men’s Eight took second place in Tokyo.

From the first beat, the crew gave everything in the final race, and in the final sprint, the last reserves of strength were thrown into the scales to successfully claim the silver medal. “We congratulate the German Men’s Eight on this impressive achievement and are proud to continue to accompany the flagship of German rowing on its long road to success,” explains Oliver Hermes, President and CEO of the Wilo Group. “Especially during the coronavirus pandemic, athletes have had to face many setbacks. Nevertheless, the team has prepared for this year’s Olympic Games with a clear and professional focus and can be justifiably proud of the result.” Wilo has been the main sponsor of the German Men’s Eight since 2010. This partnership has proven to be a story full of achievements for both parties. In addition to the current medal, the past, extremely successful eleven years include victories in eight European Championships, four World Championships as well as a gold medal in London in 2012 and the silver medal four years later in Rio de Janeiro.
