Matured partnership between Wilo and the German Men's Eight team
Dortmund pump specialist has been supporting the flagship team for eight years
Dortmund. Since 2010, Wilo has been the main sponsor of the German Men's Eight team. It has been a successful partnership for both parties. "We are proud to have accompanied and supported the Eight on this long journey, and in return, we have always been able to count on Germany's rowing flagship," said Jan Radzey, Head of Marketing at WILO SE, during the presentation of the German Men's Eight team at the Rowing Performance Center in Dortmund on Thursday.
He is confident that the Eight and Wilo are a great fit in many ways. "At Wilo, our 7,700 colleagues worldwide give their all every day for success," said Radzey. This includes dedication, meticulous preparation, technical precision, and the determination to give everything. "No one can achieve such performances alone; it takes a perfectly coordinated team where everyone can rely on each other." He also sees parallels between the athletes of the German Men's Eight team and the employees at Wilo.
"The team matters, cooperation takes precedence over individual performance."
Wilo feels a special connection not only to the flagship team but also to the Four and the Pair without Coxswain in the "smaller crew". The same applies to them as it does to the Eight: "Whether it's on the oars or in the development, production, marketing, and sales of pumps, everyone must contribute according to their abilities," explained Radzey. "Then things progress quickly, and the desired success follows."
Exciting months with the European Championships in Scotland and the World Championships in Bulgaria
Even without the Olympic Games this year, the men led by coxswain Martin Sauer are facing extremely exciting months. In addition to several World Cup races and the 100th Anniversary Hill Regatta on the Baldeneysee in Essen, the flagship team of the Dortmund Rowing Performance Center will compete against the rowing elite at both the European Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, and the World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. "The relationship between Wilo and the German Men's Eight team goes beyond mere sponsorship. Many employees eagerly follow the races," said Kay Hoffmann, Director of Global Affairs. "Conversely, some athletes are also active members of the Wilo family. For example, Felix Wimberger, who is studying mechanical engineering, completed his internship with us."
