Vorstandsvorsitzender & CEO der Wilo Gruppe

For Wilo in the exclusive round table: Oliver Hermes, President and CEO of the Wilo Group.

Wilo takes part in an exclusive round table at the start of this week in Berlin

Last Monday (18th July), high-ranking representatives from the world of politics and business in Egypt and Germany came together under the leadership of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The exclusive “executive business round table” was part of a visit by the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who is currently in Germany. As a guest, Oliver Hermes, President & CEO of the Wilo Group, had the opportunity to personally meet the President, as well as the Egyptian Ministers for Trade and Industry, Electricity and Renewable Energy, Foreign Affairs, Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Transport, and Construction and Economic Development.

“Our products, systems and solutions for safe and sustainable water infrastructure are already being used today in cities such as the New Cairo Capital City as well as for the Toshka project, and in doing so help implement Egypt’s Vision 2030”, explains Oliver Hermes.

The meeting focused on increased opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, always with a view to ongoing challenges, such as climate change and water and food shortages, which are all topics that are also the focus of the country’s national Vision 2030.

The Toshka project is also strategically important to the President as Egypt is particularly reliant on wheat imports from Ukraine and Russia. The Toshka project consists of building a canal system to carry water from Lake Nasser to irrigate the arid region in Western Egypt. “Here, Wilo technology is already enabling the agricultural irrigation and associated increase in wheat production today, thus contributing to the country’s food security”, explains Oliver Hermes. The Wilo Group has been active in the market for over 20 years and has been able to steadily expand its market position ever since.
