Platinum medal: Wilo again receives highest EcoVadis award for sustainability
The technology group does particularly well in the environmental category
Dortmund. EcoVadis has once again awarded the Wilo Group a platinum medal for its commitment to sustainability. The multinational technology group has thus received the rating agency’s highest award for the second year running. Only 1 per cent of the more than 100,000 companies assessed by EcoVadis each year are awarded the platinum medal. EcoVadis is one of the most renowned sustainability ratings agencies worldwide.
“We don’t just pay lip service to sustainability, it’s an integral part of our corporate strategy”, explains Oliver Hermes, President & CEO of the Wilo Group. “Receiving the platinum medal again this year is a sign of how seriously we take our commitment: even in geo-politically and geo-economically challenging times, we’re working hard to achieve our ambitious sustainability goals. The EcoVadis rating is testament to our success.”
Wilo performed particularly well in the environment category of the sustainability rating. “Numerous very wide-ranging projects and investments have led to exceptionally good results in this area”, explains Georg Weber, member of the Executive Board and CTO of the Wilo Group. For example, the Group has significantly reduced its CO2 emissions in recent years, making all of its European production sites carbon neutral.
Wilo made improvements compared to last year’s rating in the procurement category. “With a comprehensive Code of Conduct, we’ve required our suppliers to commit to environmental protection and to comply with social standards for years”, Weber continues. However, Wilo is now making an even greater contribution to the sustainable supply chain with regular supplier audits and training. “We take responsibility – for our supply chain, for environmental protection and for a more sustainable world in general”, Hermes sums up.
The Wilo Group was first assessed by EcoVadis in 2019 and has made steady progress ever since: before receiving the platinum medal in 2022 and 2023, Wilo was awarded silver in 2019 and 2020 and gold in 2021 by the ratings agency.
