Wilo donates pumps for flood-affected regions
Unbureaucratic support for emergency services
The situation in the flood-affected areas in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate remains tense in many places. Many affected individuals are facing the ruins of their existence after the devastating floods. Fire brigades, the THW (Federal Agency for Technical Relief), and other emergency services are tirelessly working to help people in need. However, the fight against the water masses requires a tremendous effort, and neighborhoods and towns are still barely or only difficultly accessible. With a spontaneous and uncomplicated donation of nearly 50 pumps, it is a great concern for the technology specialist Wilo to provide the necessary support to the affected flood regions through their pump technologies.
Responsibility as part of our corporate identity
"We have all witnessed the horrifying images of the storm over the past few days. Prolonged rain, even heavy rainfall, is not unusual. But the rain masses turning into flood waves and devastating entire towns overnight, this is an unprecedented scale. The shock runs deep, and our sympathy goes out to all those affected," says Oliver Hermes, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of the Wilo Group. "For us, it is self-evident that we stand together closely and help where we can, especially in times like these. Therefore, it is unquestionable for us to support the fire brigade's emergency services."
For example, the units of the professional fire department in Dortmund have been in continuous operation in the heavily affected Rhein-Erft-Kreis for more than 24 hours. Around 20 pumps have already been transported to the area to serve as additional tools for the local fire department in the fight against the water masses. Three other local fire departments have also been provided with donations of supplies in this context. The voluntary fire department in Datteln-Horneburg was touched by the donation. Since yesterday, the units there have been sent to assist in the Recklinghausen district, where every helping hand counts.
Technology as support for tireless emergency services
"We ensure that help reaches where it is needed. The firefighters are tirelessly working, and supporting them with our technology is the least we can do," says Peter Glauner, Head of Group Service at Wilo. "We have established an internal task force at short notice. At the same time, we are in constant contact with the central control center in North Rhine-Westphalia, which coordinates the actions of the rescue teams, and we are receiving the wishes and needs of the emergency services. Whatever is needed, we make it possible. We have full support from our board of directors for this. We show solidarity, we are where we are needed."
