Dortmund/Abu Dhabi. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Managing Director & CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) welcomed Wilo CEO Oliver Hermes together with Götz Lingenthal, German Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates in Dubai.

“We are extremely pleased at being invited to have an exchange of views with His Excellency Saeed Al Tayer and the prospect of working on future-oriented projects with DEWA in Dubai”, said Oliver Hermes following the meeting. DEWA’s goal is to support the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rasshid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai by implementing development projects and future-orientated initiatives in Dubai. The intention is to transform Dubai into a global centre for efficient energy and water management systems. DEWA has achieved very competitive results in its own global benchmarking, surpassing public-sector and private-sector utilities in energy provision and water supply in terms of efficiency and reliability. “We are pursuing a policy of close strategic cooperation with German manufacturers and organisations in the sectors of energy and water management to improve collaboration and benefit from the international experience of both parties”, summarised His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer.

Successful delegation meeting

The Wilo delegation, lead by Oliver Hermes and the German Ambassador, expressed great interest in participating in DEWA projects in the area of efficient and intelligent energy and water management. “Dubai is taking the lead in the smartification of urban regions. We have the right solutions to make a worthwhile contribution in the area of building services, energy and water management”, according to Oliver Hermes. The outcome was an agreement to intensify cooperation and take concrete steps in this direction in the next quarter. Besides the German Ambassador Götz Lingenthal and Wilo CEO Oliver Hermes, also part of the delegation were Wilo employee and German Water Partnership board member Peter Stamm and the Wilo employees Dr. Amer Mokbel, Director Sales Area Gulf, Bishara Khalil, Managing Director Dubai and Svenja Ahlburg, Manager Governmental Affairs.
