Mumbai, India - Flood Protection

Mumbai Monsoon

In Mumbai pumping stations are responsible for pumping out rainwater and preventing high tides from seeping into the city.

India is one of the regions where there is little regular rainfall. India's agriculture is dependent on the monsoons and even though they are necessary for the food supply, they are a great burden for the inhabitants. Wherever the land level is lower than the sea level, water logging is bound to happen. Pumping stations are responsible for pumping out rainwater and preventing high tides from seeping into the city.To ensure that the requirements for pumping stations are successfully guaranteed, almost 30 Wilo-Axial Flow Submersible Pumps are installed in four different pumping stations in Mumbai.

Narmada Malwa, India - Fighting water shortage

Sardar Sarovar Damm, Narmada Distrikt, Gujarat, Indien - 21. September 2019: Der Damm ist einer der größten Dämme Indiens, der in der Satpura Bergkette liegt und das ganze Jahr über viele Bundesstaaten Indiens mit Wasser versorgt.

The primary objective of the Narmada-Malwa-Ghambhir Link Project is to address water scarcity in the upper reaches of the Chambal basin.

Agriculture serves as the backbone of the Indian economy, with much of its practices still reliant on the monsoon rains. The primary objective of the Narmada-Malwa-Ghambhir Link Project is to address water scarcity in the upper reaches of the Chambal basin, where irrigation levels stand at a mere 5.54 per cent of the cultivable area. This project aims to provide irrigation facilities to approximately 50,000 hectares of Command Area (CCA) in the Malwa region's Indore and Ujjain districts, while also supplying water for domestic and industrial use. This initiative directly benefits over 150 villages. Wilo India takes pride in contributing its technological solutions to projects aimed at fostering a sustainable future. The Wilo-Vertical turbine was installed to meet the requirements of the project.

Alvear Tower, Argentina - Water under pressure

Alvaer Tower - Buenos Aires

In the Alvear Tower in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Wilo pressure boosting systems move water at a height of 235 metres.

The Alvear Tower stands at a remarkable height of 235 meters, making it the tallest residential tower in Argentina and a pivotal landmark in the City of Buenos Aires. This mixed-use development comprises numerous condominiums alongside a luxurious five-star hotel. Addressing a significant challenge posed by the building's height, engineers devised an innovative solution to manage water distribution without relying on excessively high-pressure booster sets. This was accomplished by implementing intermediate brake tanks at various intervals within the structure, strategically positioned to receive water from multistage vertical pumps. These brake tanks effectively regulate water flow, ensuring consistent supply to different floors of the tower. The Wilo-Comfort COR Helix VE, Wilo-CronoNorm NL, Wilo-CronoTwin-DL-E, Wilo-VeroTwin-DP-E and Wilo-CronoLine-IL-E were installed in this project to overcome the challenges of the height.

WWTP_Australia_Black Gully

Black Gully Wastewater Treatment Plant in Emerald (QLD), Australia: processing the wastewater of over 10,000 people for irrigation.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Installation in Black Gully, Australia, processes the wastewater of more than 10,000 people into sustainable sewage irrigation for use in the region. The wastewater treatment plant was under pressure, nearly doubling its hydraulic capacity, before a much-needed revamp.

The efficiency of this particular pumping station is especially important not only because of the rapidly growing population, but also because of the frequent droughts in the region and the positive impact circulating water can have during these major environmental events.

The plant needed premium pumping solutions that would not only double its capacity, but also be easy to install, easy to operate and with service on site. The Wilo-Emu FA, Wilo-Comfort Co-4Helix and TR delivered upon these requirements, processing wastewater efficiently.
