Already thinking about how to rebuild Ukraine

Wilo as a partner for sustainable water infrastructure

Dortmund/Berlin. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal opened the 5th German–Ukrainian International Forum in Berlin. The event focused on plans and projects to rebuild the war-ravaged country.

“We as the Wilo Group want to help with the reconstruction of water-management supply and disposal systems, but also with the acute winter aid that Federal Minister of Economics Affairs Habeck addressed”, says Oliver Hermes, President & CEO of the multinational technology group. Accordingly, an intelligent reconstruction plan should achieve two things: Providing the population with quick results by rebuilding destroyed critical infrastructures visibly and tangibly. At the same time, the foundations for sustainable growth should also be established. That is why Wilo supports the initiative of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations (Ostausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft) for the reconstruction of Ukraine: “Rebuild Ukraine – Proposals of the German Business Community for the reconstruction and modernisation of the Ukrainian economy”.

In addition, the Wilo Group has already donated around 100 mobile water treatment systems to Ukraine in recent months. Each of these systems, called PAUL (portable aqua unit for lifesaving), can filter about 1,200 litres of water per day, providing at least 400 citizens in crisis areas with fresh drinking water. In this way, the water rucksacks help to maintain vital basic supplies in severely affected communities.
