The Wilo Group focuses all its business activities on sustainability. This is revealed in the multinational technology group’s latest sustainability report. Wilo recently defined a new, comprehensive sustainability strategy, which now takes precedence over all other functional corporate strategies. The report documents Wilo’s progress in realising ambitious targets by 2030.
Wilo’s new sustainability strategy is aligned with three impact areas: Creating,Caring and Connecting
“We are convinced that to overcome the major crises of our time, we as a society need more courage to embrace sustainability. Our strategic reorientation is an important change of perspective.
With this decision, Wilo is once again leading the way as a sustainability pioneer,” explains Oliver Hermes, President & CEO ofthe Wilo Group.
- Creating covers the sustainable contribution of Wilo products, systems and solutions – e.g. to decarbonisation and improving watersupply.
- Caring describes Wilo’s responsible action with regard to the environment, employees and society and includes goals such as emission reduction and creating a healthy working environment.
- Connecting stands for Wilo’s commitment to strong international partnerships.
“Wilo achieved real milestones in all three impact areas last year,” says Georg Weber, Member of the Executive Board and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Wilo Group.
In 2023, the installation of highly efficient Wilo pumps and pump systems saved a total of 2 terawatt hours of energy. Wilo increased its sales insustainable water solutions by 10 per cent – and thus demonstrably contributed to a better supply of clean water.
The Group has reduced its scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by 17 per cent compared to the base year 2020. Wilo’s LTIR rate, a recognised indicator foroccupational health and safety, is 2.9 and is thus at benchmark level.
And with the Wilo Industry Conference 2023, which brought together around 200 experts from politics, business and science in Singapore, Wilo created an important exchange format in what is probably the smartest city in the world.
Wilo’s commitment to sustainability was underlined once again last year by the platinum medal from EcoVadis. Only one per cent of the more than 100,000 companies assessed by EcoVadis each year receive the agency’s highest rating.
“Creating, Caring, Connecting – this approach determines the work of the Wilo Group today and in the future,” summarises Wilo CEO Oliver Hermes. “The sustainability strategy is nothing less than the driving force behind our multinational technology group Wilo.”
