"I want to encourage continuous development and support my colleagues every day so that they can reach their full potential."
Hey Jana, welcome to We@Wilo. First, tell us who you are and what exactly you do at Wilo?
I'm Jana and I've been part of the "Learning & Development" team Europe at the Dortmund location since July 2024. Continuous development drives me. That's why I'm thrilled that my work as a "Specialist for Learning & Development" accompanies my colleagues on their individual learning and development journey at Wilo.
Tell us more about your role in the Learning & Development team.
My tasks include the organisation and moderation of the Wilo Welcome event. An introductory event for new Wilo employees. Our goal is not only to bring them closer to the Wilo world, but also to promote the value of "Act as One" by allowing them to network with each other.
In the Leadership Journey, I accompany managers who have taken on a leadership role for the first time. This development program provides them with a variety of tools and impulses to strengthen their leadership skills. In addition to the content of the programme, networking events, mentoring and cooperation in peer groups are also important elements that provide additional support to participants.
In addition, we offer our colleagues individual advice on their further development and provide learning opportunities and training formats via our Wilearn platform. Using psychometric diagnostics and feedback tools, we can analyze strengths and development potential. These serve as the basis for individual learning journeys, which also include mentoring and coaching programs.
My work is very varied, because every day brings new challenges – I like that very much. I appreciate the exchange with my colleagues both in creative brainstorming workshops and in everyday interaction. With this exchange of ideas, we ensure the continuous development of our learning and development offers. I also appreciate the trust that is placed in us as a team, but also individually, in order to drive projects and programs forward independently. In this open working environment, I can learn from mistakes and celebrate successes together as a team.
What do you value most about your employer Wilo?
Despite my rather short tenure, I felt welcome and comfortable from the very first second. Whether it's collaboration within People & Culture or across functions – everyone is open and helpful. Everyone stands for a common goal - according to the motto Act as One.
In addition to the team spirit, Wilopark is also special – both the design in the office and the architecture of the Smart Factory with the huge LED screen. My favorite place is the coffee bar – which has become a routine for us after lunch in the canteen or is also used for short meetings. I find it very special when I enter the Pioneer Cube on Wednesday morning when I enter the fresh scent of waffles directly rises to my nose. That puts a smile on my face first thing in the morning. It's also the little things.
One of the big topics at Wilo: sustainability. How do you combine the topic of sustainability with your work at Wilo?
Even though my work is not directly product-related, I still see it as my responsibility in the area of Learning & Development to contribute to the advancement of our sustainability strategy. I am convinced that we can all contribute to the big picture through small measures.
We actively integrate our sustainability strategy into various formats such as the Leadership Journey, the Wilo Welcome Event and the internal learning event Talks (key note + panel discussions). In doing so, we rely on peer learning so that our colleagues can learn from Wilo experts and develop an understanding of sustainable action. Our goal is to provide impetus and ensure that our colleagues receive the necessary knowledge and skills for sustainable action and implement them in their everyday professional lives.
Wilo has firmly anchored the sustainability strategy as an overarching strategy. This includes not only ecological but also social goals. An important aspect of this is the topic of diversity and inclusion. The Wilo family is diverse, and I want to create awareness of diversity in addition to my work as a Specialist Learning & Development. Every employee should feel comfortable and accepted with us. For this reason, for example, we took part in Christopher Street Day together as Wilo colleagues to set an example for diversity and tolerance in Dortmund.
