On Thursday 20th June Anglian Water hosted their 14th annual Regatta held at Rutland Water, raising money to help the Beacon Project, a charity delivering safe, clean drinking water and sanitation to the people of Lahan, in Nepal.
Over 760 people along with Wilo supported and attended the event with people taking part in competitions on the water, raft & kayak racing, tug of war, inflatable games, face painting and food stalls.
The event has grown from strength to strength, over a decade ago the event raised a very respectable £2,500 but ten years on the total is now more than a hundred times that amount! In total last year more than £1m was raised for WaterAid, with the Regatta making a reasonable contribution to that.
A great day was had by all that attended, Wilo took part in the water competitions putting together a joint team with Anglian Water. The team put in a sterling effor and walked away with first place trophies in both the 'duct tape' canoe and the 'concrete canoe' races.
We look forward to WaterAid 2020 and raising more money for a very worthy cause.
