Independent rating agency awards its highest distinction to the Wilo Group

The Wilo Group (with its headquarters in Dortmund) has received the Ecovadis Platinum certification.

Dortmund. The rating provider Ecovadis has awarded the Wilo Group the platinum medal for sustainability. Following silver (2019 and 2020) and gold (2021), this is the first time the multinational technology group has received the rating agency's highest award. Only one percent of the 90,000 companies assessed worldwide by Ecovadis achieve the platinum rating.

"Since its foundation in 1872, the Wilo Group has evolved from a hidden to visible and connected champion. Sustainability has always been an integral part of our DNA. The platinum rating acknowledges our strategy and is a source of great pride," says Oliver Hermes, President and CEO of the Wilo Group.

"The platinum medal shows how sustainably Wilo performs along the entire value chain," says Georg Weber, member of the Executive Board and CTO of the Wilo Group. "I am particularly proud of the excellent rating of our commitments to environmental protection. However, the top rating is also an incentive for us to further pursue our strategy and improve our performance in an even more focused manner."

The Ecovadis rating is one of the most internationally renowned sustainability ratings. Using a scorecard, the rating measures various indicators such as sustainable objectives, implemented activities, certifications or controlling measures. Depending on the industry, company size or geographical location, the rating takes into account 21 criteria along the entire value chain — from purchasing to production to human resources management. An overall score and four individual scores reflect the evaluation and allow comparison with other companies.

The platinum certification is one among a number of prestigious awards that Wilo has received in recent years. For example, the Group received the German Sustainability Award for 2021 in the "Climate" transformation field. Wilo is also one of the "50 Sustainability and Climate Leaders" worldwide.

"I am confident that we can slow down climate change together and achieve global climate protection goals. With our efforts, we hope to encourage others to pursue sustainability and climate protection beyond company and national borders," emphasizes Oliver Hermes
