During his UAE visit, Oliver Hermes strengthened Wilo’s regional partnerships and advanced cooperation in sustainable water and infrastructure solutions across the AMEA and MENA regions.
During a two-week trip through the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oliver Hermes attended numerous high-level meetings with partners from politics, science, and business in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The President & Global CEO of the Wilo Group strengthened the company’s network in the UAE and reaffirmed Wilo’s position as a pioneer in sustainable water solutions in the AMEA region. Oliver Hermes was accompanied by colleagues from global and local Government & Public Affairs as well as regional and local AMEA and MENA management teams.
“The meetings impressively demonstrated how important strong networks in the UAE are for our ambitious growth targets – both for the AMEA region and for the entire Wilo Group. Our partners are sending us a clear signal: We are recognized as a key player in the Emirates and across the MENA region, which gives us the best starting point to further expand our position,” Oliver Hermes stated after the trip.
Highlights of the trip included a meeting with H.E. Sultan Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman & CEO of DP World and Chairman of the Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation, along with senior executives from DP World. Oliver Hermes also met H.E. Saeed Al Tayer, CEO of Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA), to discuss Wilo’s WATER AI strategy as well as current and future energy and water infrastructure projects of DEWA. A meeting with H.E. Hadi Badri, CEO of the Dubai Economic Development Corporation (DEDC), focused on intensifying cooperation within Dubai’s D33 economic agenda.
In preparation for the UN Water Conference to be held in the UAE in 2026, the Wilo CEO met H.E. Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability. The discussion centered on the importance of ambitious sustainability initiatives and international water diplomacy. Another meeting with Abdulmuhsen Kalbat, CEO of the Rail Agency at Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), highlighted Wilo’s expertise in equipping transportation infrastructure projects. More than 400 Wilo products, systems, and solutions are used in the Dubai Metro.
