Ghorfa General Secretary visits Wilo

Back to overview

22.09.2020

The Arab world and Germany traditionally have enjoyed good economic relations.

The Wilo Group, a leading technology company in the pump industry, has also been active in the Near and Middle East for several decades and with great success. In 2019, the new subsidiary in Dubai was ceremonially opened. The success to date can be credited to the very committed employees on site but also to a strong network of representatives from business and politics.

Commitment in organisations and associations

For this reason, the Wilo Group too is engaged in a wide variety of organisations and associations worldwide, including Ghorfa. The Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry supports its members in the German-Arab business world. A regular exchange is extremely important. For this purpose, the Ghorfa General Secretary Abdulaziz Al-Mikhlafi visited the newly built headquarters of the Wilo Group, the "Wilopark" in Dortmund. His son Akram Al-Mikhlafi and Anna-Carina Mohrholz, Business Officer Member Services / Marketing, joined them during the visit.

Intensive exchange on business potential in the Arab world

With a population of which the half is under the age of 25 and which will almost double by 2050, investments in education, energy, industry and health sectors are essential in Arab markets and major infrastructure projects are needed. Products, systems and solutions from the Wilo Group find enormous application potential in these markets.

Industry 4.0 standards & climate protection are important not only in Germany

After visiting the newly built Smart Factory, the Ghorfa General Secretary was extremely enthusiastic about the consistent implementation of the latest industry 4.0 standards and the Wilopark concept for climate neutrality, the implementation of which will enable climate-neutral production at the Dortmund site as early as 2021. The same industry 4.0 standards are to be implemented in all production sites of the Wilo Group worldwide in the future.

The megatrends climate change and water shortage are of particular concern to many Arab countries. These issues are therefore firmly anchored in their individual country visions. With the help of intelligent products and digital services, Wilo can, for example, help to slow down climate change and efficiently manage and preserve the scarce water resources.
