Being the strategic partner of the AHK Sustainability series, Wilo actively contributes to climate protection through its sustainability strategy.
Wilo participated in the ‘AHK Sustainability Talks on the Road to COP28’, which was organised by the German Embassy in the United Arab Emirates and the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK). The event focused on the theme of decarbonisation in the industry.
As part of the participation, Jens Dallendoerfer, Senior Vice President Emerging Markets at Wilo Group, served as a distinguished panellist at the event along with respected panelists from Siemens, Masdar City and Dubai Aluminum. He contributed to a vital discussion titled ‘Decarbonisation in the Industry.’ During the event, Dallendoerfer offered valuable insights into Wilo’s pioneering corporate strategy, Ambition 2025, which seeks to broaden Wilo’s provision of clean water to a wider community while decreasing the company’s ecological impact.
Jens Dallendoerfer, Senior Vice President Emerging Markets at Wilo Group, said: “One of the primary objectives of Ambition 2025 is to achieve a substantial reduction of 50 million tonnes in carbon emissions by the year 2025. In order to attain this ambitious goal, Wilo has effectively integrated sustainability into its core business model and day-to-day operations. This strategic transformation aligns with Wilo’s unwavering commitment to developing products that not only enhance access to clean water but also promote energy efficiency through cutting-edge technologies. The innovative products and solutions of Wilo are poised to make a significant impact by notably reducing CO2 emissions, with an estimated annual energy savings of 1.8 TWh through the use of high-efficiency pumps.
”Additionally, within the framework of the Ambition 2025 strategy, Wilo is committed to achieving climate-neutral production at its facilities by the year 2025. This initiative encompasses the deployment of photovoltaic systems to generate a substantial portion of the electricity required, as well as exploring innovative solutions like the H2 power plant. Hydrogen plays a pivotal role in Wilo’s sustainability initiatives and occupies a prominent position in their overall strategy. By harnessing its photovoltaic systems to produce climate-neutral hydrogen directly on-site, Wilo has taken significant steps towards closing its local energy cycle and reducing its carbon footprint.
At the event, Dallendoerfer also addressed the crucial role that pumps play in the future hydrogen market. In alignment with this vision, Wilo has recognised hydrogen technologies and systems as strategically significant within the realm of pump systems. Furthermore, Wilo has made a firm commitment to actively participate in and support the production, distribution and utilisation of clean hydrogen on a global scale.
