Mundra LNG Terminal
Mundra LNG Terminal, Gujarat
The Mundra LNG Terminal in Gujarat is a critical energy infrastructure facility supporting India’s natural gas supply chain through LNG import, regasification, and downstream distribution. The terminal includes large-scale re-gasification facilities developed for a capacity of 5 MMTPA, requiring highly reliable seawater intake and fire protection systems to ensure safe, continuous, and efficient terminal operations. Such LNG facilities operate under stringent safety and performance standards due to the handling of cryogenic and flammable materials.
For this project, engineering and execution were carried out by Toyo Engineering India Ltd for the re-gasification facilities of GSPC at the Mundra LNG Terminal. A comprehensive pumping solution was implemented, covering both high-capacity seawater intake for process requirements and dedicated fire-fighting systems to meet stringent LNG safety norms and statutory compliance.

Location: Mundra LNG Terminal, Gujarat, India
Seawater intake pumps at LNG terminals must operate continuously with high reliability to support regasification and auxiliary processes. The pumps installed at the Mundra LNG Terminal are designed for stable hydraulic performance, corrosion resistance, and efficient handling of large seawater volumes drawn from coastal intake systems. Their design ensures uninterrupted process support under continuous-duty operating conditions.
Fire-fighting pumps in LNG facilities are classified as mission-critical safety equipment. These systems are engineered to deliver high pressure and rapid response during emergency scenarios, ensuring protection of storage tanks, process units, and jetty interfaces. The multi-pump configuration provides redundancy and resilience, ensuring full compliance with LNG safety regulations and international fire protection standards. This reference demonstrates a comprehensive and proven pumping solution for large-scale LNG terminal infrastructure.
