The 400 MLD Perur and Porur Desalination Plant is a major water infrastructure project developed to strengthen Chennai’s long-term drinking water security. The project is executed for CMWSSB (Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board) and forms a critical part of the city’s strategy to reduce dependence on monsoon-driven surface reservoirs and groundwater sources.

The desalination plants utilize advanced seawater desalination technology to provide a reliable, climate-resilient source of potable water for the growing urban and industrial population of Chennai. High-capacity product water transfer pumps play a vital role in conveying desalinated water efficiently from the treatment process to downstream distribution systems. For this project, heavy-duty centrifugal pumps have been supplied to handle large flow volumes under continuous-duty operation. These pumps are engineered to deliver stable hydraulic performance, high efficiency, and long-term reliability, ensuring uninterrupted water transfer from the desalination facilities to the municipal supply network.
