Wilo UK has acquired Arfon Rewinds Limited (trading as Arfon Engineering Services) in a move that further increases the company’s water management pump servicing capability.
The acquisition will enable Wilo UK to extend its service capability in key water management operations, including installation, repair, condition monitoring, and general pump maintenance.
Arfon has two workshops, for dirty water pumps based in Bromborough and clean water pumps based in Caernarfon, with a team of circa 20 full-time engineers. The company is a major service and maintenance provider to industry in the North West of England and also numerous water utility companies, including Welsh Water and United Utilities. Arfon will continue to trade as a separate legal entity to support its existing customers and contracts, with Wilo UK having now purchased 100% of shares and assets of Arfon.
Lee Tebbatt, Managing Director of Wilo UK, says the acquisition further strengthens Wilo UK’s servicing capability and aligns with an increased focus from customers on aftersales support and total cost of ownership.
“We have a strong trading relationship in place already with Arfon, who is a long-standing Wilo Service Partner. The opportunity to bring Arfon fully into the Wilo family was a good fit with our strategy of providing a full range of service capabilities across the installed pump base in the water utilities and industry sectors.
Our ability to support the pumps and pumping systems we supply through a range of service and maintenance capabilities is a strategic ambition for Wilo and is becoming increasingly important for pump users. With this significant step forward, our now even larger service team network can offer the highest level of support across the UK for water management, industrial, and building services applications.”
Mr Tebbatt also believes the acquisition represents greater future potential for both companies. “The opportunities to introduce our increased offering to existing Wilo customers are clear, but we also believe strongly in supporting and enabling the Arfon business to continue supporting their existing customers even more effectively through added stability and selected investments. We are confident we can take the well-established Arfon servicing blueprint and apply it to new areas of the UK, increasing its geographical spread.”
Andy Martin, previous Director from Arfon, will join the Wilo UK Management Team as Sales and Operations Director. He commented: “We’ve worked closely with Wilo for many years and have common markets, customers and a desire to grow our business together."
He continued: “Joining the Wilo team opens up opportunities both for the Arfon business, in terms of potential new business opportunities, and also for our employees who are now part of a much bigger organisation with even greater potential to grow their own careers.”
Peter Glauner, Senior Vice President Sales Region Mature Markets of the Wilo Group, said: “This acquisition is another cornerstone for our solution provider approach. As a climate protection company which provides solutions around the water circle, we are happy to welcome Arfon to the Wilo family.”
