Wilo UK has unveiled an apprenticeship programme offering aspiring professionals the chance to gain a Level 3 qualification in engineering.
Delivered in partnership with Loughborough College, the scheme will see three successful applicants join the business in September, receiving hands-on training in mechanical and electrical engineering.
It also plans to support apprentices in developing AI-related engineering skills, following the government’s recent acknowledgement that it is driving demand for more technical and future-focused skills.
Apprentices will spend four days each week gaining practical experience from within the organisation, working alongside existing Wilo engineers and, for the first two years, one day of theoretical learning at Loughborough College.
They will be offered a permanent engineering role at the end of the four-year programme, backed by a clear career progression path.
Lee Tebbatt, managing director at Wilo UK, said: “There has never been a better time to invest in the next generation of engineers who will shape the future of our industry. Amid a growing shortage of skilled workers, it is paramount that apprenticeships are available to those who want to develop expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering, both for today’s applications and for those we foresee in the near future.
“I also joined the industry as an apprentice, and to this day I remain grateful for the opportunity to grow alongside the help of those who knew the trade like the back of their hand. It fills me with immense pride that we can now offer the same chance to three school leavers or career changers.”
Wilo is welcoming applications from across the UK, available to school leavers, career changers and aspiring engineers of any age. Applications close on 18 August.
