Platinum Medal: Wilo Receives EcoVadis' Highest Award for Sustainability Again

Back to overview

28.02.2024

The technology group performs particularly well in the environmental category

Dortmund, Germany. EcoVadis has once again awarded the Wilo Group the platinum medal for its commitment to sustainability. The multinational technology group has thus received the rating agency's highest award for the second year in a row. Only 1 percent of the more than 100,000 companies evaluated by EcoVadis each year receive the platinum medal. EcoVadis is one of the world's most renowned sustainability rating agencies.

"Sustainability is not just lip service, it is an integral part of our corporate strategy," explains Oliver Hermes, President & CEO of Wilo Group. "Receiving the platinum medal again this year is a sign of how seriously we take our commitment: even in challenging geopolitical and geo-economic times, we are working hard to achieve our ambitious sustainability goals. The EcoVadis rating is testament to our success."

Wilo achieved particularly good results in the environmental category of the sustainability ranking. "Numerous wide-ranging projects and investments have led to exceptionally good results in this area," explains Georg Weber, member of the Executive Board and CTO of the Wilo Group. For example, the Group has significantly reduced its CO2 emissions in recent years, making all of its European production sites carbon neutral.

Wilo improved on last year's rating in the procurement category. "With a comprehensive code of conduct, we have been requiring our suppliers to commit to environmental protection and meet social standards for years," Weber continues. Now, however, Wilo is contributing even more to a sustainable supply chain with regular audits and supplier training. "We take responsibility for our supply chain, for environmental protection and for a more sustainable world in general," summarizes Hermes.

The Wilo Group was first assessed by EcoVadis in 2019 and since then has made steady progress: before receiving the platinum medal in 2022 and 2023, Wilo was awarded silver in 2019 and 2020 and gold in 2021 by the rating agency.
