A Fresh Online Presence Highlights the Wilo-Foundation’s Global Commitment to Education, Innovation, and Social Responsibility
Dortmund, Germany. The Wilo-Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of its new website, offering a fresh design and intuitive user experience. The new platform makes it easier than ever for visitors to discover the foundation’s diverse funding priorities, explore its rich history, and learn about its commitment to social responsibility worldwide.
Founded by the entrepreneurial family Opländer behind the global pump manufacturer Wilo, the Wilo-Foundation is the majority shareholder of WILO SE and an independent charitable foundation based in Dortmund. Since its establishment, it has promoted education, science, culture, and social engagement through a wide range of projects and partnerships. The foundation’s mission is to create lasting positive impact in society by supporting initiatives that encourage innovation, foster learning, and strengthen communities.
The new website is designed in a magazine-style format, inviting visitors to be inspired by the foundation’s story and to immerse themselves in the wide variety of projects it supports across the globe. Users can now explore funding activities and focus topics in a lively and accessible way, with content organized to offer both clarity and inspiration. Flexible navigation and new filter options allow visitors to easily find projects by funding area, country, sustainability goal, or key theme, making information quickly accessible for everyone.
Impact in Latin America: Wilo-Foundation Empowers Local Communities
In Latin America, the Wilo-Foundation has been especially active in supporting impactful initiatives, such as the “Água para Vidas” (Water for Life) project by Habitat for Humanity Brazil. In the Northeast region of Brazil, many families struggle daily for access to clean water, often relying on unsafe sources like clay pits and walking several kilometers to collect water. Thanks to the financial support of the Wilo-Foundation, 17 cisterns with a capacity of 16,000 liters each now provide clean and safe drinking water to 68 people in the village of Riacho das Almas. Notably, four of these cisterns were built in 2022 with the hands-on involvement of Wilo employees and partners, who volunteered directly on site through the Habitat for Humanity volunteering program.
Through projects like this, the Wilo-Foundation not only promotes sustainable development and better living conditions in the region but also encourages its employees to actively engage in making a meaningful difference in communities worldwide.
The website is available in both English and German, making it accessible to an even broader international audience. The Wilo-Foundation invites everyone to visit the new website, discover its fascinating range of supported projects—including those making a difference in Latin America—and sign up for the new "Impact Update" newsletter to stay informed about current initiatives and future developments. The foundation looks forward to welcoming visitors from around the world and to continuing its mission of making a positive difference in society.
