Wilo enhances the safety of the Maya Train, one of the largest infrastructure projects in Mexico

With certified technology and high-performance fire pump solutions, Wilo contributes to the operational safety of the major railway project in southeastern Mexico.

Southeastern Mexico. The Maya Train, spanning 1,500 kilometers of tracks and featuring 21 stations, is one of the most ambitious infrastructure initiatives in the country. Its development boosts tourism and the regional economy by connecting Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo. With an investment of over USD 13.3 billion, the project aims to facilitate transportation and promote economic growth in the region.

Safety is a key aspect of a project of this magnitude. Fire protection systems not only safeguard the infrastructure but also save lives. To ensure optimal performance, reliable technology and technical support in the industry are essential.

In this context, Wilo, a global leader in pumping technology, has been awarded as a key supplier for the Maya Train. With over 150 years of experience, Wilo provides robust and efficient technology for the industrial and transportation sectors.

The equipment for the first phase of the project includes American-Marsh Pumps, a Wilo brand firefighting systems:

  • AMP-12MC-WL /4Stg DIESEL
  • AMP-12MCA /4Stg ELECTRIC

These systems, which comply with the requirements established by the NFPA 20 standards and are listed by UL and FM, deliver a flow rate of 500 GPM @ 323.4 ft per unit, with an installed power of 450 HP. Their implementation enhances the operational safety of the Maya Train and demonstrates Wilo’s capability to support large-scale projects with high-performance technology.

Wilo Mexico will continue supplying equipment for the remaining 19 stations, with delivery scheduled for 2025.
